The Forest Appeals Commission (FAC) was established under the Forest Practices Code of British Columbia and now operates under its replacement, the Forest and Range Practices Act. The FAC has the authority to decide appeals of certain decisions made under five provincial statutes and their associated regulations. Decisions appealed to the FAC relate to forests and environmental issues.
The FAC strives to provide timely and efficient access to justice for individuals, organizations, and businesses pursuing their rights of appeal in British Columbia. The FAC seeks to be responsive and sensitive to the needs of those involved in appeals.
While members are spread throughout the province, the FAC’s office is located in and core operations are performed in the traditional territory of the Lekwungen People, now known as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations. The FAC honours the welcome of these Nations, and their long history of environmental management and sustainable resource development in their territory.
